How often it refreshes

While milliWeather is open, your forecast refreshes every five minutes. The time of the last update is in Settings → Weather details.

  • In the background, iOS decides when the app may refresh.
  • Widgets refresh on their own, as often as iOS allows. Opening the app brings them up to date.
  • milliWeather is free, with no in-app purchases.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

  • It says "Finding your location" or shows no forecast: milliWeather needs your location to know where to forecast. In the iPhone Settings app, open Privacy & Security → Location Services → milliWeather and choose While Using the App.
  • It says "Last known location": the forecast is for the last place the app saw while a fresh location arrives. It updates on its own once one does.
  • There is no Next hour tab: minute-by-minute rain forecasts are only available in some countries and regions. Where there isn't one, milliWeather shows Today and This week only.
  • The units are wrong: milliWeather uses the units your iPhone or iPad is set to. Change them in the Settings app under General → Language & Region.
  • The colours keep changing: that is the Automatic palette following the time of day, the season and the weather. Choose a fixed palette under Settings → Colours (Colors in the US) in the app.
  • A widget is behind the app: widgets refresh on their own about every half hour, and iOS decides exactly when. Opening the app also brings them up to date.
  • I didn't see a Live Activity for a storm warning: iOS only lets an app start a Live Activity while it is open, so it appears when you open milliWeather while a tornado or thunderstorm warning is in force. Check that Live Activities are allowed for milliWeather in the Settings app. Once you swipe one away it won't come back for the same warning.
  • App is behaving oddly: force close the app and reopen it. If needed, restart your device.
  • Does milliWeather collect data? No — see the Privacy Policy.
